Challenge-Based Learning

The Challenge-Based Learning methodology leads students to experience open innovation processes to propose creative solutions to real challenges in their classes or during Challenge Experience scenarios. A challenge is based on a specific situation that poses a problem, need or opportunity for improvement of a company, enterprise, organization or that can occur at a social level (a community, municipality, among others).

Challenge-based work enables the application of knowledge integrated with teamwork skills, analytical thinking and achievement orientation. In this way, students begin to be agents of change with an impact on society, through their own proposals for solutions to the problems identified.

This methodology is developed in two different scenarios that can be complementary; it is carried out as a teaching methodology within the framework of the subjects and also through open innovation spaces in the Challenge Experience.

Classroom experiences

We invite you to learn more about how this methodology is carried out in the subjects of the Universidad de La Sabana; in the following two videos you can learn about learning experiences based on challenges from different disciplines.

Challenge Experience (ChXs)

The Challenge Experience (ChXs) are open innovation experiences in which students, professors, members of the university community, and allies of the environment develop collaborative processes for the co-creation of alternative solutions to the proposed challenges. These scenarios are based on the Challenge-Based Learning methodology, and can be developed in formats of different durations. Currently at the University, ChXs are carried out from all areas of knowledge, participating in conjunction with different partners such as companies, entrepreneurs, educational institutions, public sector entities, and many more.

We invite you to learn more about these experiences in the following video.
