Gastronomy

The Undergraduate Program in Gastronomy at Universidad de La Sabana trains professionals with foundations in the culinary arts, food studies, food science, and business administration and entrepreneurship.

The culinary arts are the field of study in which technical and scientific bases merge with creativeness in the preparation and presentation of products.

Food studies is a field that considers the political, economic, social and cultural dimensions of food and studies its role in society. Food science deals with the physical, chemical and biological properties of food.

Finally, business administration and entrepreneurship prepare gastronomes to understand the market and to concretize their profession from an entrepreneurial perspective.

Tuition and other costs:

Registration: $ 130.000 COP/ 34 USD aprox.

Tuition in Colombian pesos (COP): $17.915.000. Approximate amount in US dollars: 4.398 USD.

Besides tuition, students must purchase the full uniform at the University. There is an additional value for students who wish to go on the field trips scheduled as from the third semester (one per semester).
The cost for the field trips can be between $ 1,000,000 and $ 1,500,000 per semester. Students must bring their own utensil sets to the practical classes (knives, choppers, slicers, tongs, etc.), which can be purchased at the libraries of buildings E and A of the University or at a place of their choice.
