¿Qué opinan los estudiantes que cursaron el MINOR?
In my opinion, the minor course Intercultural Studies and Local Identities it's beneficial for every student that doesn't want to learn English in a traditional way. Here, I learned from what's culture and how you can define your own identity, to how can you become a global citizen. Taking the course, I also gain different types of perspectives from people all over the world, making me aware of the issues that are happening right now, and how, we as students of the University of La Sabana can help. Most of the content presented in the course is aimed to make you conscious of things like immigration, gender inequality, among others. All of that, through breaking stereotypes about controversial topics as the ones I mentioned before.

In this class, I learned many important topics about different countries of the world, which in part served to open my mind more to the traditions and different cultures that can be found in some countries like, México, Japan, Egipt, Rome, Australia, and so on. I found it interesting that also within the class, we did not only focus on other countries, but we also learned about Colombia and the great diversity we have and should take care of. Finally, I would recommend this class to other students, because I think you can learn a lot of interesting things about the world, and at the same time you could strengthen your English skills with fun activities and constant interaction with your classmates.

Now talking about the content and the topics I have learned, I would definitely recommend this course to everybody, even if it is as an elective or to replace English levels, because this course is really interesting since it covers such a diversity of topics that, if you, for some reason, get “bored” after two classes of the same thing, then the other class is a completely different thing, or a similar thing seen from another perspective, which, in my opinion, keep us, as students, invested in the class, always wanting to know what is the next topic and what are we going to learn from it.
The course has taught me to be more tolerable with other cultures and religions, and has risen my awareness in different things and facts that I had no idea before I took it, so I feel very satisfied of what I have learned, and I hope more people keep taking this course, so hopefully it can be pretty useful for them too.

Intercultural studies and local identities, is an excellent class! I learned a lot about general topics that involve the world, but they also involved my community, so these issues are about me and about how I act in the world and with others. What I enjoy is all the activities that we did, because they help us to improve my English. All my life I study in a bilingual school but when I started university I started forgetting English because I stopped practicing, so that why I decided to take minors. This is the perfect way to practice the whole package; grammar, listen, oral skills and vocabulary. Classes are based on discussions, debates, interviews, monologues and presentations where topics of general academic interest are addressed.
For all the reasons mention above, of course, I will recommend this class and all the minors, they're an excellent way of practice English and learning different things that I am sure they are going to be really useful in the future.

There are just not enough words to express my self about this course, it was a great class with a totally different focus. There are tons of advantages about this course, I got to think about different things regarding human issues, regional point of view, customs, traditions, global problems and a ton of more things that helped me to create a mental image of how to act "correctly"; also, it helped me improve my speaking skills and increase my vocabulary; lastly, it gave me a new perspective of what is to actually be a citizen and what repercussions have many of my acts in a global scale.
I will totally recommend this minor, especially if it is with you, to my close friends since it is a completely different way to work on English while learning and doing different activities to understand our world and what it is happening with it.
